Bessie SHEPPARD, 53, a Montezuma resident for 20 years, died Wed Aug 14, 1957 at Vermillion Co. Hospital, Clinton. Bessie was well known in the Montezuma community for her usual cheerfulness and ready smile. She had been chaperone of the Montezuma Youth Center since the organization's inception and was also a member of the Montezuma Christian Church and OES 537. She had been ill about 3 weeks prior to death. Born at Spencer, July 23, 1904 she was the daughter of John and Mayme Galloway. Funeral services were conducted at Brown Funeral Home, Montezuma with Robert Pebley of Spencer, former pastor of Montezuma Christian Church in charge. Burial in Oakland Cem. Survivors include the husband, Warren; two daughters, Mrs. Louise Norris and Mrs. Barbara McMillan; both of Montezuma; the mother, Mrs. Galloway and two brothers, Fred Galloway of Spencer and Ernest Galloway of the US Army.
